Rob Fleming was first elected as a BC NDP MLA in 2005.

As a father of two school-aged children and a strong advocate for public education, Rob has witnessed the damage 16 years of BC Liberal choices caused to public education and is determined to repair it.

Rob’s long track record of community involvement in Victoria dates back to his days as a student at the University of Victoria, where he spearheaded the creation of the universal bus pass for students, the first of its kind in British Columbia.

Before Rob was an MLA, he served two terms as a Victoria City Councilor. He chaired the city’s finance committee and represented Victoria at the Capital Regional District, the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, the Capital Region Housing Corporation, and Tourism Victoria. As a City Councillor, Rob was a leading advocate for public transit and affordable housing.

Rob served as the Minister of Education from July 2017 to October 2020 and currently serves as the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto is a facilitator by trade with university degrees in law and science. A businesswoman active in community causes for decades, Marianne was first elected to Victoria City Council in 2010. She was elected to the Capital Regional District (CRD) government from 2011 - 2018, where she chaired its landmark Special Task Force on First Nations Relations. Re-elected to the CRD in 2022, she now chairs its Arts Commission and is a member of the CRD Core Area Liquid Waste Management, First Nations Relations, Hospitals and Housing Committees and the Capital Regional Hospital District Board.

Mayor Alto is currently co-chair of the Victoria/Esquimalt Police Board, a member of the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, the BC Transit Board, Victoria’s Citizens’ Assembly Council Committee, the Te'mexw Treaty Advisory Committee, and co-chair of the BC Urban Mayors' Caucus.

She has been City Council liaison to the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, South Island Prosperity Partnership, Greater Victoria Public Library, Destination Greater Victoria, Royal and McPherson Theatres Society and a host of other community and professional organizations. Mayor Alto has been Council liaison to most of the city's neighbourhoods and is matriarch of the City Family (a unique collaboration among the City, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations) having nurtured a long, rich relationship with those Nations. President of the Canadian Capital Cities Organization for five years, she remains its Past President.

A zealous advocate for increased housing supply and affordability, Mayor Alto actively facilitates civil discourse toward the realization of an intentionally transformed city. Mayor Alto convened the City’s first collaboration with Island Health and service providers working in the various fields of harm reduction, addictions and mental health, and initiated the City’s first open data portal, driving the City’s commitment to open government. She continues to be committed to expanding the City’s efforts at smart city technology, in particular as it enables Victoria’s capacity for climate adaptation, disaster planning and response, optimizing citizen engagement and inclusion, public transportation and the lifecycles of infrastructure assets.

Married and a mom of two boys, Marianne is a lifelong activist who vigorously advocates for equity, inclusion and fairness for everyone. She owns and operates Azimuth Research & Consulting, a firm specializing in problem solving, change management and facilitation. Mayor Alto owns a home in Victoria’s Burnside Gorge neighbourhood.

Matthew Boyd is the Director of Corporate & Strategic Planning at BC Transit. He collaborates with over 130 communities across British Columbia in the strategic planning, delivery and management of their transit systems. For the past seven years, Matthew has also been a board trustee with the Greater Victoria Public Library and is also an Instructor at UVIC with the Gustavson School of Business.

Dean Murdock is the Mayor of Saanich. Prior to his election as Mayor in 2022, Dean served three terms on Saanich Council. He worked for the Provincial Government at the Ministries of Health and Transportation and Infrastructure and was an instructor of political science at Camosun College. He grew up in Saanich, attended high school at Claremont Secondary and graduated from the University of Victoria. Dean lives in Saanich with his wife, Rachel, two children, and their 17-year-old Beagle named Bella. Dean is a coffee-drinker, guitar-player, and cyclist.

Ryan has spent the past 20 years working with many of British Columbia’s most successful organizations in real estate, retail, and finance; dozens of local, regional, and provincial governments; and many crown corporations, all to help them answer big--and sometimes messy--questions. As the Senior Economist and Vice President of Intelligence at rennie, Ryan and his group use the latest data acquisition, management, and analytical methodologies to cut through the noise and provide insightful market research to clients.

Ryan is a member of the Canadian Association of Business Economists and Association of Professional Economists of BC--having recently served on the latter's board--and is the former Communications Committee Chair for NAIOP.
