Planning and Approvals is one of nine courses within the RED Management Certificate Program offered by UDI Capital Region. This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the planning and approvals process for real estate development projects. Led by experienced faculty members, this course covers a range of strategies and processes to lead a project through a successful approvals process.
Throughout the course, participants will delve into the intricacies of the approvals process, including OCP (Official Community Plan) amendments, zoning regulations, development permits, variances, subdivisions, and other permits, such as regional growth boundaries, and heritage approvals. They will gain insights into the technical and political aspects of the municipal approvals process, understanding how to effectively navigate the requirements and regulations set by local authorities. Participants will learn strategies for engaging with municipal officials and regulatory bodies.
By completing Planning and Approvals, participants will be equipped with a map and an understanding of the many issues associated with managing a project through the complex landscape of planning and approvals. With guidance from experienced faculty, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the strategies and processes involved in securing the necessary approvals for real estate development projects.
