    Harley Machielse serves as the Director of Engineering for the District of Saanich, where he leads a multifaceted team in planning, design and operations to ensures the delivery of essential municipal services and the management of $5 billion in public infrastructure. In addition to his current role, Harley leads the Permit and Application Modernization Program at Saanich. This new initiative focuses on digitizing the permitting process to enhance customer service and improve user experience. It also aims to foster internal collaboration across departments, modernize bylaws and policies, and streamline processes to make permitting more efficient and effective. In the upcoming panel discussion on The Missing Middle Housing, Harley will bring a perspective of aligning urban infrastructure and the modernization of permitting policies and processes.

In the last fourteen years, Clint has been involved with the acquisition, development and delivery of over $2 billion of real estate.

    When he’s not at work, you can find him reading a book, hosting a podcast, writing a newsletter or spending time with his wife and two teenage boys at the rink or football field. We still don’t know when he sleeps.
