Speakers

  • Scott Currie, P.Eng. (Geotechnical Engineer at Ryzuk Geotechnical)

    Scott Currie, P.Eng.

    Geotechnical Engineer at Ryzuk Geotechnical

Scott studied Civil Engineering at the University of Paisley in Scotland and after emigration started his career with Ryzuk in 1999. He has 25 years of experience working with local developers in the greater Victoria area. He has gained understanding of the variable soil and rock conditions encountered and how those may influence the design and construction of the wide range of building types and massing typically proposed. His experience indicates that early geotechnical consultation and guidance can often provide direction for more cost effective design and construction.

    Antoine Letendre, M.Eng., P.Eng.

Geotechnical Engineer at Thurber Engineering Ltd

Mr. Letendre (M.Eng., P.Eng.) is a geotechnical engineer with over 15 years of experience. Having worked on projects throughout British Columbia, especially on Vancouver Island, his expertise includes drilling and test pit logging, rock core logging, geotechnical classification of soil and rock, pile and anchor inspections, instrument installation and monitoring, temporary excavation inspections, foundation design and construction, retaining wall design and construction, numerical modelling (shoring design, slope stability, settlement analysis and pile design), shotcrete (conventional and fibre reinforced) design and review, design of GRS and MSE retaining walls up to 18 m tall, CPT interpretations, and liquefaction assessments. Within the development community, Mr. Letendre has extensive experience helping various organizations and developers develop novel and cost effective options for the geotechnical design of structures ranging from in size from single stories to in excess of 18 stories tall. His work has included site specific response assessments, and the use of alternate approaches, such as Ambient Vibration Testing to assess likely seismic design criteria.
