From navigating challenges to embracing opportunities, each speaker embodies the spirit of resilience and passion that propels our industry forward.

  • Hon. Suzanne Anton, K.C.

    Hon. Suzanne Anton, K.C.

    Suzanne Anton, K.C. is a former BC Attorney General, Minister of Justice and Minister Responsible for Public Safety. Previously Anton served as a Vancouver City Councillor and as an elected Park Board commissioner.

    Suzanne is currently leading a consortium of Vancouver Arts Organizations in the pursuit of a new cultural precinct for the city, with the goal of a new concert hall, recital hall, and opera/ballet hall.

    Suzanne is a lawyer, mathematics teacher, community activist and a leader in Vancouver and British Columbia’s political landscape. She is a board member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Canada West Foundation, the Canadian Constitution Foundation, United for Literacy, and Business for the Arts and has served on many other community and sport related boards.

    Suzanne and her husband Olin stay active with family, golf and tennis.

    Virginia Bird is the Principal of Pottinger Bird Community Relations, a Vancouver-based company that creates community engagement strategies for the public approval process of various residential and commercial development projects across the region. With over 18 years of hands-on experience, she specializes in building strong relationships between developers and other stakeholders in the Lower Mainland.

    Virginia holds a bachelor's degree in arts from Queen's University and began her career as a junior associate at Pottinger & Associates in 2006. She became the Principal of Pottinger Bird in 2013 and is responsible for the management and effective execution of all client programs and projects.

    Virginia is an active member of the Urban Development Institute Board of Directors and was a former Chair of the Women of UDI Committee. She also sits on the boards of the YMCA BC Foundation, the Vancouver Resource Society, and formerly, the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.

    Virginia was one of the founding members of the Women of UDI Committee, sits on the UDI Board of Directors, and was the recipient of the 2018 Maureen Enser Future Leader Award and recognized as one of Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 in the same year.

    With long-standing family ties to the history and development of Chinatown, Carol is deeply committed to the revitalization of Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside. She is the co-founder and chair of Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, a registered charity which is dedicated to building a more resilient and inclusive community while preserving its irreplaceable cultural heritage. Ongoing projects include affordable housing, seniors housing, and cultural and economic development.
    Carol serves on several other boards and organizations including the BC Achievement Foundation, National Coalition Against Anti-Asian Racism, and Harvard Business School Canadian Advisory Board. She is the chair of UBC Properties Trust and the Honorary Patron of the Chinese Canadian Military Museum Society. In 2022, she was the recipient of the YWCA Icon Award and the VPD Jim and Vicky Chu Community Safety Leader Award. In 2023 she was appointed to the Order of Canada, and the Independent Advisory Board Supreme Court of Canada Judicial Appointments. She is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia and an Honorary Doctorate of Technology from BCIT and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2021, she was awarded the Order of British Columbia. She has been on Vancouver Magazine’s Power 50 list for the past 10 years.

    Louise is the current chair of the Women of UDI Committee and sits on the UDI Board of Directors.

  • 7 days' written notice for individuals, and 14 days for corporate tables to cancel with no penalties
  • Substitutions are allowed at any time


Corporate Tables: 

  • Deadline for attendees' names & and dietary restrictions is April 19, 2024. Any dietary request after April 19th can not be guaranteed
  • If you don't have all your attendee names and emails at the time of booking, please email them to events@udi.org once you do
