Prior to joining Anthem in 2022, Matthew worked for over 15 years “on the other side of the table” as a lender in the Commercial Real Estate Group at two multinational financial services companies (Wells Fargo Bank and GE Capital), where he was responsible for growing their Western Canadian presence. Key responsibilities included sourcing, loan structuring and negotiation, as well as internal deal ownership through underwriting, closing and, if required, loan syndication. Matthew’s work experience is diversified geographically across Canada / US Gateway Markets and by product type including term, value-add and construction loans across all real estate asset classes.

    Matthew grew up in Toronto, the city of birth for both of his daughters, completing an undergraduate Business degree at the University of Wilfrid Laurier. He later received an MBA from the Sauder School of Business at UBC, and has happily called Vancouver his home since 2012.
